Behind The Build: 29th Street Renovation

Welcome to our Behind the Build series, where we give you an inside look into some of our most exciting and challenging projects. Today, we’re highlighting our work on 29th Street in San Diego, a project that started with a condemned property and ended with a beautiful and functional 4 unit multiplex.

Our First Look at The 29th Street Property

When we first visited the property on 29th Street, it was in terrible condition. The City of San Diego had condemned the property due to serious structural issues, and it was in danger of collapsing. But our team saw an opportunity to transform this space into something special, and we partnered with an investor who shared our vision.

A One-Of-A-Kind Challenge

One of the unique challenges we faced with this project was the sheer size of it. We had to coordinate the work of several different teams, including architects, engineers, builders, and electricians, to make sure everything was done correctly and on time. It was a daunting task, but we were up for the challenge.

Another challenge we faced was the steep slope that the house sat on. It made it impossible to get excavating machinery to the places we needed it, so we had to get creative. We ended up excavating using a bucket and some rope, which was a slow and labor-intensive process, but it allowed us to get the job done without causing any damage to the property or the surrounding area.

Overcoming The Obstacles

Despite these challenges, we were able to complete the project on time and on budget, and the end result was a beautiful and functional 4 unit multiplex that the investor was thrilled with. We were proud to have overseen, managed, and coordinated this unique project, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to have played a role in transforming this condemned property into something special.
